Winter and Thomas Hardy!

Who said Thomas Hardy is pessimistic? Have you read his exquisite differention of the shades of maiden's cheeks to express her inner feelings? The landscape weaves the stories of buried memories!

Cozy winter clothes and Tess' emotions are trouncing my heart, it is certainly gloomy but I find enigmatic optimism in the gloominess. Eccentric!

Winter is for dark academia, winter is for classics, winter is especially for Thomas Hardy and Anita Desai. These are the two authors who make me feel these strange emotions.

Thomas Hardy swept me off my feet here in these lines 🍂

"To all humankind besides Tess was only a passing thought. Even to friends she was no more than a frequently passing thought. If she made herself miserable the livelong night and day it was only this much to them --- 'Ah, she makes herself unhappy.' If she tried to be cheerful, to dismiss all care, to pleasure in the daylight, the flowers, the baby, she could only be this idea to them --- 'Ah, she bears it very well.' Moreover, alone in a desert island would she have been wretched at what happened to her? Not greatly."

Tess is existing for herself, she is nothing but a vague structure for the world. Okay! Am I obsessed with Tess and her melancholic life?! No, I'm obsessed with Hardy's inscription.
