In Derry, Pennywise existed! He is still existing, everywhere in Derry, He is existing in every decade because time is an illusion in Derry, he crawls in every deep hollow, he grins surreptitiously, holding his balloon. 

People perceive him as a clown, a clown who would amuse the crowd, a clown who tickle us with his gestures but his profound grin gives creeps to the children. The clown doesn't want to please the children, he doesn't want to amuse them. He is after them, he is after every single child in Derry.

It all started in 1957, in a small town Derry. Georgie was brutally killed, none senses the abnormality in his murder, except his brother 'stuttering' Bill. But is he the only one who is sensing the peril? No! Eddie who is a delicate child in Derry, sees clown in the form of leper, Beverly hears dead children's voices in the pipe, Bill sees the clown in Georgie's album, Mike was chased by a mysterious bird, Stan Uris' vision of dead children haunts him. These children decide to find the  clown who is embedded in the little town.

The story doesn't end there. It starts again when a queer boy gets killed, people think that it is because of a homophobic gang. But the children meet again as adults to resolve the ongoing terror in Derry. The clown is not only the problem these children face, Henry, a lunatic child and his sadist gang also frightened them in their childhood.

Stephen King astonished me with his writing style, the book has startling descriptions of the psychological disturbances and paranormal occurences.

The characters are sketched with disquieting imageries. 'IT' deals with their terrible memories. 

'IT' is not a yet another horror or thriller, this is an enthralling piece with rich psychoanalytic symbolisms. 

The existence of the clown and his history made me get delved into the plot. I would recommend this ghastly novel to everyone who wants to read an extraordinary horror book. Stephen King has poured his wits to weave this mind boggling storyline.
