Edgar Allan Poe
'But tomorrow I die, and today I would unburden my soul. My immediate purpose is to place before the world, plainly, succinctly and without comment, a series of household events'
- The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe.๐๐๐
Hey Bookish Sweethearts!
Let us talk about a short read that I read today. I love reading the short stories of Ruskin Bond, Edgar Poe, Murakami, Anton Chekhov and Maupassant.
Edgar Allan Poe is my most favourite classic writer who talks about human psychology through the recurring dark themes in his works.
I prefer reading his books in rainy season!
You know why?!๐งSo darkkkk so gloomyyy and your heart skips a beat when he describes about a mysterious man knocking the door surreptitiously.
The brilliance of Poe's works is based on how he weaves the elements of indepth psychological elements in the horror theme. The insightful thoughts about the scientific inventions intervene in the storyline. He is a pioneer of Deductive story, Gothic and science fiction. This collection has some of his famous stories like 'The Fall of the House of Usher', 'The Tall Tale Heart' etc.
'A Tale of the Ragged Mountains' is a spectacular story that I read from this collection. It is totally mind boggling!! Poe's brilliance stupefied my senses!!
The story is a connection between two different characters and how their similiar temperaments getting connected in the end.
Poe has dealt with the madness of an individual and added different shades to the surreal human relationships.
'The Black Cat' is my another favourite piece from this collection. If you have read Poe's works, you would have definitely admired his writing style, writing a horror plot and sending chill through the bones of the readers is a tedious task and Poe has mastered the art meticulously.
