QOTD: Have you ever felt sorry for an antagonist?

Review of 'The Best Friend' by @akash_verma_now

'The Best Friend' by Akash Verma is a short fast paced thriller weaved with betrayal and dark secret.

I have already read 'You Never Know' by Akash Verma a few months back, and this is the second book that I read by this author. The writing style is  convenient and gripping for all the readers. I really enjoyed the  engrossing plot of this book!

The storyline revolves around the protagonist Nakhul and his haunting past. Nakhul, an outstanding student in his school, befriends a reticent junior Samir. Samir idiolizes Nakhul and his skills, Samir's daddy issues and loneliness make him admire his skillful senior Nakhul.

Nakhul on the other hand stays completely indifferent to Samir's affection and uses him to deliver secret letters to his girlfriend Ginny.

One day Samir goes to deliver Nakhul's birthday present to Ginny and that day becomes unforgettable and the darkest day for both Nakhul and Samir's life. That day changes the paths of their lives, changes their dispositions.

The plot sways from the past to the present condition of the protagonist. The story has a third person narration in the past and character voice narration in the present. The writing style is really very gripping and the language is comprehensible and lucid. I really felt sorry for Samir! His innocence and yearning for affection is doleful! He deserved happiness in his life.

This book made me get enraged towards the protagonist and his self centered demeanour. The author has done a wonderful job in the character sketch and the storyline.

If you love reading thrillers, you can certainly pick this book! This is a very gripping one and fast paced too!
