Rhododendrons in The Mist.

'Perhaps he remembered the tunnel in which we made our litttle escape to freedom...

But there are no tunnels in the sky'

- Ruskin Bond 'Playing Fields Of Shimla'
(From the collection of short stories 'Rhododendrons In The Mist')

Ruskin Bond's unflappable writings show the beautiful Indian rural landscape and its ethos.

His writing style is unique and pleasent. I have never felt that his children's short stories are meant only for the children.

Ruskin Bond is a quintessence of aesthetic rural stories.

Well, I started reading Bond in my tender age, I developed a strong liking for hill stations in India because of his writings. Most of his stories are the impressions from his lonely childhood.

'Rhododendrons in the Mist' is a collection of his short stories named after the first short story in this collection!

It is divided into the two parts, the first part includes his stories in the genre of horror, mystery and the second part is the impressions from his childhood and has some of the famous stories like 'Blue Umbrella'!

It is raining cats and dogs in my hometown since a week, so I started reading the first part in such a gloomy climate and the stories perfectly resonated with it!😍

One of the stories 'Panther's Moon' reminded me of his another excellent piece of writing 'Tiger In The Tunnel'.
'Playing Fields Of Shimla' is my most favourite in this collection. It describes painfully about his lost childhood friend.

The tales are set in himalayas, mussorie, dalhousie and Simla. There are twenty eight balmy stories in this collection.
