BOOK REVIEW🌻

Hello Bookish Sweet hearts!🥀

I absolutely love post colonial literature and V.S. Naipaul is one of my favourite authors who captivates me with his masterpieces! 'A House For Mr. Biswas' is a story of Mohun Biswas, a journalist and an ardent pursuer.

The story revolves around Mohun Biswas, his birth, marriage and the existential crisis of a common man in domineering society. The setting of the novel is in post colonial Trinidad.

Mr. Biswas was born with six fingers! Okay?! Is that a problem? But yeah, it was considered as an unfortunate birth and a sin because of his father's superstitious beliefs. One day, his finger tumble to the ground by purging his sins and suddenly Biswas gained respect from everyone. That is how his life started. That is how Mr. Biswas entered into this world.

The plot focuses on his marriage with Shama and how he struggles with the dominant 'MATRIARCHY' in Shama's household.

The dominance urges his ego to buy a house of his own. 'A house for Mr. Biswas'.

What are all the struggles he has to go through in order to gain independence? and how Biswas bought his own house? The author has weaved the story with Mr. Biswas' quest for autonomy with post colonial backgroup. The narration is dark and hilarious. Dark comic lovers would definitelty cherish the storyline. This book is highly recommended masterpiece for literary fiction lovers, the complicated prose and the language tire would your patience but you will surely enjoy the essence of post colonialism in the storyline🌼🌻
