GREEK MYTHOLOGY CIRCE!
Hello Bookish Sweethearts💕
' I did not pretend to be a mortal. I showed my lambent yellow eyes at every turn. None of it made a difference. I WAS ALONE AND A WOMAN, that was all mattered'🍂
Sometimes fictions teach you more philosophical lessons than hundred self help books! 'Circe' is one of my recent reads and I absolutely adored it. I love Greek mythology... Wait, I love the word 'MYTHOLOGY' there are no distinctions. Circe is a misprized woman in the Greek mythology, I was told 'Circe' is a vulnerable woman when I read Odyssey and other versions of Odysseus' stories. But this novel made me get enraged towards Helios, pasiphae, Aeetes and even Odysseus because of their indifference towards Circe.🥀
She was meant to be valued, she was meant to be loved but in the end, she was shrouded in inconsiderate persona of others. 🍂
The story revolves around the life of Circe, her exile and her relationship with Odysseus from her perspective. The initial point of the novel concentrates on her tender age, when she couldn't understand the ruse of Gods and showcases her naive disposition. When she fell in love with the mortal Glaucos, she was determined to court him. She transformed him into god with forbidden powers but unfortunately Circe's dream didn't come true, he fell in love with Scylla. Circe's clumsy wrath transformed Scylla into a monster. And then begins her exile!
The narration of Miller held me spellbound, I delved into the book and fantasized all the events, I had no great expectations before picking up this book because bookstagram hyped books mostly won't work out for me😂 but this book tethered me to the beautifully inscribed words! The character sketch was vivid and clear, nevertheless I felt most of the characters are insensitive and self centered other than Circe and Telemachus.
Surely, I am gonna read it again❤
